By choosing a boiler that is rated as 'A' or 'B' by SEDBUK you will save gas. SEDBUK means 'Seasonal Efficiency of a Domestic Boiler in the UK'. By comparing the SEDBUK ratings of different appliances you can get a fair comparison of the energy performance of different boilers.
An energy efficient boiler can make a difference in the following ways:

- It will consume less fuel
- As a result, it can significantly reduce gas heating cost
How is the SEDBUK rating calculated?
SEDBUK refers to the average annual efficiency achieved in typical domestic conditions, and the rating is calculated using:
- Typical domestic usage patterns
- The UK climate
- Boiler type
- Ignition
- Fuel used
- Internal store size
Step One: A SEDBUK rating assesses what percentage of the fuel that the boiler consumes is converted into heat.
Step Two: That percentage is given a rating using a scale from 'A' (at the highest level of efficiency) to 'G'.
SEDBUK can be used to estimate annual fuel running costs and all new boilers should be SEDBUK Band A or B rated except in some specific circumstances.
